Barakalla Robyn is a seasoned professional in the development sector, specializing in climate mitigation and adaptation, particularly concerning blue carbon projects across Asia Pacific countries. With a strong background in blue carbon science, policy, and finance, Bara has extensive experience in climate finance, project management, responsible sourcing, and business development.
Currently, Bara serves as the Chief Sustainability Officer at Nusantara Climate Initiative, where he leads all operations, partnerships and certifications, as well as innovative business model generation. Prior to this, Bara held a leadership role at Earthworm Foundation as the Business Development & Partnership Lead for Indonesia, where he spearheaded multiple business pipeline developments and revenue generation model for the organization. Bara also has experience working with Conservation International as Blue Carbon Science Regional Director for Asia Pacific, World Resources Institute, Zoological Society of London, and Total Earth Care Pty Ltd, among others. He also holds and advisory role for Yayasan Pesisir Lestari.
Bara’s expertise lies in developing conservation financing strategies and mechanisms, collaborating with local coastal communities for blue carbon assessment, and fundraising. He has a proven track record of success in project planning, implementation, and monitoring, integrating both mitigation and adaptation aspects with locally grounded solutions.
Bara’s commitment to environmental sustainability extends beyond his professional work. He is an active mentor for several organizations, including Sustainable Ocean Alliance, Terra.do, and School for Eco-Diplomacy initiative by Econusa Foundation. In these roles, he supports the development of future leaders in the field of environmental conservation.
